Joy Harris

Joy Harris, MPH, is the Public Health Accreditation Board’s (PHAB) Director of Education Services. She joined PHAB in August 2022 and provides training to both those curious about accreditation and those actively seeking PHAB Accreditation. Joy earned bachelor’s degrees in occupational therapy and psychology from St. Ambrose University and a Master of Public Health from Des Moines University. In 2002, she joined the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH). At IDPH she served as the Public Health Modernization and Accreditation Coordinator (AC). Public Health Modernization work centered on evaluating and improving Iowa’s governmental public health system. As the AC, Joy led IDPH’s efforts towards PHAB initial accreditation and planning for reaccreditation.
