Heather Black

Position title: Chief Nurse for the Center for Access and Linkage to Healthcare, NM Health

Heather Black is the Chief Nurse for the New Mexico Department of Health, Public Health Division. Her work includes providing statewide leadership and direction related to clinical services, including ongoing nursing staff development and quality assurance measures. Her primary focus is managing, steering, and guiding statewide public health service operations to align with community needs and resources. Heather has also worked in adult and juvenile corrections, developing and implementing a statewide medical transition program for incarcerated and paroled youth in the state of New Mexico, and as a social worker with Protective Services.
